Both routes take the same effort (rewire car vs make adapter cable) with one difference: you can make the adapter on the kitchen table.
Actually sat on the couch as I twisted and capped the "red wire to the yellow" and vice verse with the adapter.. I just eliminated the "pull pin from slot A and insert in Slot B"... No wiring harnesses were harmed during the install..
