And make sure you have the removal keys for the stock radio. The keys that came with my Clarions are different.

I have a couple of questions if someone can help me please.
I want to be ready when the radio arrives and everything on hand.
1, How does this new radio pull out, any special tools needed?
2, When you switch the red and yellow wires in positions A7 and A4 do you release them from the socket with a paper clip, or what is the best tool to use for this?
3, The after market frame mentioned (Insert metal aftermarket frame into DIN slot), is that the part that comes with the radio?
Thanks for any help here.

You should get removal tools with the new stereo.
I just wired red to yellow etc. without "swapping" pins
Your new stereo will come with the sleeve. My Clarion's bend to lock into slot tabs wouldn't hit any depressions in the "cutout" and I had to add a very small screw in a corner to hold it.

A1: comes with its own removal tools.
2, When you switch the red and yellow wires in positions A7 and A4 do you release them from the socket with a paper clip, or what is the best tool to use for this?
A2: there is a simple protruding small spike on the pin that needs pushed back to release. You can pull the wire out without release, but then have to bend the spike back into place to hold the wire in the socket.
3, The after market frame mentioned (Insert metal aftermarket frame into DIN slot), is that the part that comes with the radio?
A3: yes comes with the radio.

Just as a reference - the sleeve locking tabs "matched up" to be able to push them out and secure?
" When you switch the red and yellow wires in positions A7 and A4 do you release them from the socket with a paper clip, or what is the best tool to use for this?"
I just made the switch in the adapter cable I built using the Scoshe adapter and the plug that came with the radio. Did make a bit more bulk behind the radio but did not have to cut up the factory harness. If I wanted to replace the factory radiooit is just plug and play.

It actually clips on the edge without the tabs. But yes there are plenty of tabs to match existing holes for extra security.

Thanks for the help guys.
Yes I understand that.. and the "logic" of doing it that way.. The next owner can ask "why".. I just went the easy quick route.. LOL.
Both routes take the same effort (rewire car vs make adapter cable) with one difference: you can make the adapter on the kitchen table.
Actually sat on the couch as I twisted and capped the "red wire to the yellow" and vice verse with the adapter.. I just eliminated the "pull pin from slot A and insert in Slot B"... No wiring harnesses were harmed during the install..
Then this should really kill you.. I have yet to start a weekly regiment of pulling and cleaning my spark plugs! Let the haters begin!
I have started to replace my Nav radio with this Kenwood, I have the plug converter on order. When I saw the aerial converter,
, in post one I realised that if you have the Nav radio you must already have that part.
Converting from the standard radio to the Nav version you are required to change the OEM aerial connecter on the loom to another type and it involved two converters to achieve. The converter with the wire is or is the same as the Metra 40-EU10.
I shall hook up the BT mike next while I wait for the other part to arrive.

Metra-VW12
Or

Metra 40-EU10 or GR40EU10
This adapter is required on the red end to fit to the Nav unit.

Here I thought you knew the Nav unit was a different antenna adapter than "non nav".. I had caught that in some thread a while back. Anyways I went to Crutchfields and plugged in "with nav" in the car specific stereo boxes.. and they show this as the antenna adapter..??.. Metra 40-VW12 Antenna Adapter

I'll amend my post to reflect the difference. Thanks.
PS
I forgot to mention that I knew the adapters were different, I have been here a few years more than you, over 5 years and you obviously missed my thread on the conversion from the stock radio to the Nav radio. I did the connector swap at that time, so I knew about the difference.
