That chemical smell is common in almost all of our Crossfires
It is the glue and materials used on the interior at the factory
There are several threads here that complain of this odor and many remedies that have been tried to remove the odor many with no success

There is a cabin filter located behind a panel under the glove box that you probably should change due to the age of the car but it probably wont resolve the problem completely

As for the tires if they are originals the age makes them dangerous no matter how new they appear
Without having a spare tire on these cars even makes it more of a concern
Your best option is to put new tires all the way around so you can go years without the risk of a complete blowout

Being new to the Crossfire this is the bible for every owner here
