My cig lighter wasn't working, turned out to be a fuse. Located under the hood, driver side. I would check that before anything else when it comes to electronics.
I'm guessing that he fixed it 5 years ago. But I do need to check that fuse on mine. Apparently it also powers the glovebox light which is out on mine as well.
