I'd prefer to replace the lock housing assembly then modify and remove the locking pin in the existing one. Is it easy to swap the tumbler and black cap? Does the cap come with the new assembly or does someone know the part number? Also, if there's anyone experienced in this fix in the Atlanta area, I'd be happy to pay them for the sticky key fix.
I recall some posts that reported the brand new part also has the pin and spring so if you did buy new take the cover off to see.
