Dave is (as always) right - if the SKREEM is at fault, you will be 3 cranks then nothing. Disconnect battery, reconnect, you get 3 cranks then nothing.

You are describing fractured solder on the RCM near the engine control relay. Replace the RCM or reflow the solder around the relay. It can also be a bad Crank sensor - like he said, around $50 USD for the part.

Sorry, but I do not think they are on the right track and are making this WAY harder than it is.
