Default Baked potato: long term reviews

Hi,

i have to change a leaking intercooler on my SLK32 soon.

I am thinking of insulating the new intercooler with a heat shield (aka "baked potato") but still not sure if it is worth it or not.

I wrote some articels here (see below) but it seems that a "baked potato" has its negative characteristics as well.

It would be nice if someone can report his long term reviews after years of experience. Would you do it again?

Thanks

Steven
