I put 8 litres in as per spec, that does not overfill the engine, that is more than 8 qts. I change it when it has been in there for about 3,000 miles.
We are still waiting for the reason not to change the tranny oil, especially in a car that goes to the drag strip a lot.
Meanwhile I'll change mine at 40,000. Early but what the heck, better too soon than too late.
