Once they choose to do this for you ....you can then call the lodge and ask them to give your room to the other guest by providing their full name
Your credit card will be credited once they have the new credit card info from the person who takes over your reservation.
All I can pass along is what Marie (group manager for Fonatana) has told me - they no longer do refunds. The procedure I provided is what Marie suggested last year when this came up.
You can ASK for anything you want, but I"m passing along what the lodge has told me/us to do.
If you have managed to get them to do what you describe, perhaps others can as well.
