One wheel turns one way and the wheel on the other side turns the other, the prop shaft does not turn. Normal for a differential.
The differential is a SIMPLE mechanical device that does NOT act like you'd think it would act. There is a YouTube video out there that goes into this in about 15 minutes and teaches SO MUCH that I didn't understand for over 40 years.
