It's Possible, I did it when I was getting ready to wash the car with the radio on and key inside. It cost 99 bucks, no guarantees, they said, pay up front, for a key that would only open the door, a courtesy key. I obtained the proper paperwork they requested and drove to the locksmith, where they cut the key. Had they delivered it, the price would have been 50 bucks more. The key did NOT work at first, the tip of the blank was off a little but I had a small file and mached up the tip with another key for a different Crossie. It worked.....Good luck!
So far I have heard people have done it but no real explanation.
I know you could do it if you had a window ajar, locked the car with the fob, and put the key through the open window. Or locked the car, then opened it using the fob but did not open it using a door handle. This would trigger the automatic relocking feature having passed the key through the open window. But who is stupid enough to do this to themselves?
