Locked out
So I got the NA 05 coupe 3 1/2 years ago, it was from a flipper. So only got one key, have never locked the car, no need to. Tonight I locked the key in the ignition! Never got around to getting spare made, not smart, so what are my options?
At least I can drive the SRT until I get in the NA.
dumb Dan in Georgia!

Doors are locked, key still in the ignition, car is off. So any tricks to get in would be appreciated. Really it look# like tomorrow I will be paying a locksmith big bucks to get in the car.
The cheapest way to get into a locked car is to ask around for your local joyrider.😉
Any local towing company will probably open the door for less than $50. You'll just have to show them your ownership..You don't have a problem with a "big buck" solution. I think it's called a slim jim.
It's Possible, I did it when I was getting ready to wash the car with the radio on and key inside. It cost 99 bucks, no guarantees, they said, pay up front, for a key that would only open the door, a courtesy key. I obtained the proper paperwork they requested and drove to the locksmith, where they cut the key. Had they delivered it, the price would have been 50 bucks more. The key did NOT work at first, the tip of the blank was off a little but I had a small file and mached up the tip with another key for a different Crossie. It worked.....Good luck!

I know you could do it if you had a window ajar, locked the car with the fob, and put the key through the open window. Or locked the car, then opened it using the fob but did not open it using a door handle. This would trigger the automatic relocking feature having passed the key through the open window. But who is stupid enough to do this to themselves?

You can open the hatch without a key by removing the driver's side license plate light and poking toward the latch with a stiff wire. There's a more detailed description someplace on this forum. I know this works because I did it once for practice.
So I live in a hanger home inside the fence at an airport, for the last 3 1/2 years I pull up to my front door, turn off the car and go in my home. No need to lock the car, which I never do anyway since I had a BMW drivers window busted open when some dirt ball tried to steal the radio. He destroys the radio while trying to steal it and I have a busted window, so since the I have never locked the car, I n ever leave anything in my car.
i go to get in the car and the doors are locked, even the hatch. So why did it do that I do not know, I have a call in to a lock smith, was hoping there was some secret way in! I will see about getting another key for it and the SRT since both only came with a single main key, or a valet key for the door.

I do now know that the once-claimed 'feature' that "the FOB being present in the ignition will prevent locking of the doors when the car is stationary" is simply wrong.
I WILL say that my Roadster is normally left unlocked in the garage, yet, at times, I go to open the door to find it locked. I always thought I locked it myself, by mistake --------- maybe not. My keys are never left in it, and the windows are always down, in the garage - so it's never been an issue.
Just want to share a valuable tip with all here reading this
When we LOCK our Crossfires it reduces the minimal amount of voltage drain on our battery
I lock mine every time I exit the vehicle

Well I had already called a locksmith before I saw the rear hatch light trick. He was here this mourning and used a long aluminum pole about the size of a pencil. Placed a spacer in the back edge of the passenger window and used the pole to pop the door handle inside. The pole had about a four inch bend on the end, he had to pull the pole out about three times to get the right curve on it.
A lot of good information here. I'm sorry for your trouble DHS but at least there was some benefit from it. Thanks for the license plate light tip albeit a bit disturbing to know the car can be entered that easily. And thanks Valk for that energy saving bit too.
As for the doors locking on their own; I've had it happen to me. I would exit the car and leave the doors unlocked intentionally. Come back to the car and it was all locked up. This happened for a while shortly after buying the car. Now, it is never locked unless I have locked it up myself. I was thinking it was caused by a leak down from the pump.
