He thought that the power lead to the motor was broken?
If he measured all the voltages on the wires from the switches, why didn't he measure and verify power to the module?
THAT is the EASIEST thing to measure - battery voltage should be on pin 10 of C1 at ALL times.
You don't need a "mechanic", you need someone who understands basic electricity/electronics. And you will SELDOM find anyone at a garage to fit THAT description.
So, let's start with the fundamental question:
If you put the top down manually, will the top go up? If so, this tells us it's 99% certain to be the divider or top open switch.
