Default mechanic needed in Holland Michigan.

I'm looking for a mechanic in the Holland Michigan area who can work on my roadster I just purchased. The top will not go down. previous owner had it looked at before i picked it up. The mechanic said all the switches are working. He thought that the power lead to the motor was broken?

So the "Mechanic" tore the trim from the trunk and measured the voltages at the PTCM and verified that 'all' switches are behaving as they should?
I somehow doubt this.

He thought that the power lead to the motor was broken?
If he measured all the voltages on the wires from the switches, why didn't he measure and verify power to the module?
THAT is the EASIEST thing to measure - battery voltage should be on pin 10 of C1 at ALL times.

You don't need a "mechanic", you need someone who understands basic electricity/electronics. And you will SELDOM find anyone at a garage to fit THAT description.

So, let's start with the fundamental question:
If you put the top down manually, will the top go up? If so, this tells us it's 99% certain to be the divider or top open switch.

Manual top operation is discussed here (The manual only tells you how to put the top up enough to limp to a dealer - no dealer can help you):

Thanks for the info, and the video you made will be helpful as I'm going to try putting the top down today. I'm not very trusting of "mechanics" but just don't want to tear into it yet. Just got it home Monday so still just enjoying it, even with the top up.

I also live in Holland and have used Jason at Intune Imports 616-392-4156 for years for my Audis and Crossfires. So far it has purely been mechanical work, no top issues. I'd be glad to get together with you and compare top operations and ensure you have the partition in the rear set correctly. Email me at jjaiven@gmail.com .

Verhage Motors Of Holland used to be a Chrysler dealer and last I heard, 4 years ago, they had a Crossfire convertible top savvy mechanic there. I don't have experience with them myself just the posting here somewhere.
