Looking back we find that with the failing siren there can be the cricket on crack sound with or without the flashing lights.
The cricket on crack sound appears to mean there is irreparable damage to the circuit board.
Anyone thinking of replacing the batteries should first inspect the circuit board inside the siren to see if it is too damaged to work again with new batteries.
