i recently started to have a problem with my alarm and light going off randomly but no sound or a really low sound like the alarm is trying to sound, can someone advise on what to do about this problem thanks.
Your batteries in the alarm siren are going bad. You need to at least disconnect it and at best replace it. It is under the cowl in front of the windshield. Type alarm siren in the search feature for more info.
I have yet to see a connection to the lights flashing and the alarm going bad. I have seen a connection with the lights flashing problem with close proximity with a military base with high tech avionics AND an area with very high EMI in a local area. The odd sounding alarm is a known issue, research 'cricket on crack' and you'll see a like issue with the alarm and its failures associated with failed batteries. Disconnecting the siren under the cowl is OK but if so make sure you 'weatherize' the plug end until you either replace the siren OR sell the car. Advise you make a not to keep with the car if you do not replace the siren (leaving that winterized connector in the cowl).
My Grandsons alarm and flashing lights were random and at all hours until I replaced his siren so ???
Looking back we find that with the failing siren there can be the cricket on crack sound with or without the flashing lights.
The cricket on crack sound appears to mean there is irreparable damage to the circuit board.
Anyone thinking of replacing the batteries should first inspect the circuit board inside the siren to see if it is too damaged to work again with new batteries.
Hi all thought I’d post some recent cricket on crack siren issues here.
Maybe too far gone to repair. Maybe too far gone for repair. Looks ok no water or battery leak damage. Looks ok no battery or water leak damage. Looked at it after a good cleaning with electrical contact cleaner and a polymer brush. Looks ok I will order the replacement batteries and replace worse case out 40 bucks for the pair. I cleaned it with electric contact cleaner and a polymer brush to inspect circuit board runs looks ok
I also ordered a new buzzer off of the needswings sight listed on here for 159 if my fix works I’ll sell my refurbished on here.

Could the battery failing cause a phantom drain? I was having a problem with the battery draining after about a week and a half of non-use (it’s the "fun" car these days, so it often sits that long). The dealer traced it to the siren and after pulling it out, the drain seems to have gone. My thinking is that if the rechargeable battery is not charging, it could continuously try to charge the battery, draining the main. Does that make sense?
if so, I am going to try to get inside and see if I can replace it.
The batteries inside the alarm leak as they age, short out and causes battery drain. Chances are the board is fried and it would be better to replace the siren. Use the search feature on this site.
