I sent a good working original key/fob assembley to Rob Schoen at NeedsWings . The first key cost $324. I also purchased the 2nd key at $300. I sent my key in on Friday. He received it on Monday afternoon. The following Saturday the 3 keys arrived to me on Saturday. Damn that was fast. The keys work great. I waited 53 weeks for that schizen-eating Fiat to fill the order. I believe they were never going to fill the order. To all you patient guys that are waiting for Fiat ( also known as that schizen-eating Fiat ) to fill your order to cancel out and get over to NeedsWings. Forum corrected my terminology , so I had to revert to German.

SOS can save me money then I will call them as well. I am cheap!
I used to say the same thing until I found out ppl thought less of me because they cared not about saving monies. So, to combat that I now say I'm frugal, and when that confuses them I smile and say 'cheap'. Works every time!
I'd like SOS and Needswings to justify the cost of new keys! This, to me, is absolutely outrageous for a damn key! Somebody is making a "lot" of profit just because they they are the only place to get them.
Can the ignition switch and door switch be replaced with a more conventional type key switch?

Hahahaha
Brother, Perhaps you’ve forgotten where you live.
USA, Everything is setup to make money.
In the last 3 months, we’ve discovered that there are 2 sources of aftermarket Key/SKREEM and 1 source of New Fobs (Chrysler)
Prior to this it was a desert with no keys to be had, anywhere!
So at this junction you have to ask yourself, if I have one key left, do I open the wallet and buy a second or take a gamble that I don’t lose it or break it.
I know that when there are no options, you’re looking at it sitting on the driveway and it’s not rolling because you don’t have a key. At that point, lots will say “gee I’ll pay any price to get my ride rolling again”
I suppose it boils down to how much is the ride worth to me and what can I sell it for without a key
or
do I park it in the front yard and turn it into a planter.
with no key, that’s it’s all it’s good for.
Recently I’ve seen several negative comments directed to long term sponsors of the forum, “they’re gouging” or are “too expensive”. These vendor/partners have been there with hard to find items and a knowledgeable advice. i.e. Needswings
If the car is to expensive to operate, perhaps it’s time to sell it.
we all need to make choices.
Make a choice either I love it and will pay to keep it running or not.
choices, choices, but I suppose complaining about the price is a Choice too.
I absolutely agree Needswings have been there for us. I've bought from them and highly recommend them.
Yes they have been there, although I'm new to the Crossfire, but do you really have to say thanks for using Vaseline when your wallet is being raped. They wanted $46 shipping for parts I needed that were under 1 lb. I try to be more frugal with my money. I don't want to start an argument as this is just how I feel about businesses that "may" be unfair opportunist.

Feelings have nothing to do with this.

Go ahead, try it, show us the way. You completely miss the point - this is not about hardware - it is about software.
The security system of our cars is very advanced, it is that way due to a revolt of insurance carriers in the EU just before the time of the production of the Crossfire.
So many cars were being stolen, insurance carriers insisted that the system be designed such that you can't simply drive off with a car. So, a complicated and encrypted RFID system was integrated with the key. Simply turning the tumbler assembly is NOT enough to start the car. Producing a key means programming that RFID chip.
And as for duplicating keys, fixing SKREEMS or bypassing the need for a SKREEM - Hundreds, perhaps thousands, of man hours went into this project. It took almost two YEARS of research and effort to come up with a way to get keys, now that they are no longer available from Chrysler.
Not choosing sides here BUT, if cars weren't full of microelectronic nanny systems that required scores of thousands to troubleshoot (not mentioning 'fixing' because dealerships have a lot of 'replace parts till the customer buys something else' mentality). Everything would be a lot less expensive (keeping in line to not using the common verbiage 'CHEAP') without them mandated nanny systems. Thousands less, yes thousands, if those damn things were outlawed (and the pool of Darwin awards could possible grow which may be very entertaining). Seriously, this car is expensive and it may get more expensive the less of them there are.
The price is due to supply and demand. If there were many options available for keys they would be cheaper but there not. You need to understand Romad you own a car that basically has no support. Chrysler doesn't claim the car and Mercedes doesn't either. While the initial cost to purchase the car now in 2020 is dirt cheap certain items are still going to be expensive. At the end of the day this was still a car that retail for 30 to 50k depending on the trim model. Parts prices will reflect that.
