That PCB looks crooked and should be fixed like it is described in this. PDF (CLICK)
Bad alignment can lead to a bad connection.
It tells you how to file away the interference point.
Clean up the corrosion, your problem may lie in the Duo Valve, one-half working and one half not working properly.
If your control unit is found to be broken do not throw the unit away, people are willing to buy the unit cheaply and sell the ***** and dials as these breaks are quite frequent, so hang on to it until someone is desperate for some parts.
