Wasn't too worried about it. The next day the battery was dead. I did the diagnostics you suggested but found everything is ok. What would you suggest I do from here as I don't want to be stranded? The battery is less than a year old.
You have what is the most difficult issue to resolve: An intermittent electronic failure. That is, based on what you typed, the radio is acting up in such a way that it does not always turn off, taking the battery down. Since this is all I know about the car, I'd replace the radio right away. That, or yank BOTH fuses to the radio and give it a few days - if the battery goes dead again, you know there is something else wrong.

But the symptoms you talk about are similar to how my factory radio died. For $85, a new JVC from Best Buy was the best move I could make - and it sure sounds better than the old factory head.
