I meant the lift supports that originally came with the car slow down at the end and so the hatch opens slowly. All the aftermarket versions do not do that and the hatch opens up fast and shakes. Stabilus/Sachs made the original lift supports and they have an aftermarket version but it does not dampen or slow at the end when it fully extends. That is the best way I can explain.
This wasn't the case in the BOXI struts I bought. The hatch opening speed is dampened as it approaches full open position. No hatch shaking and/or shuddering - not yet, anyway. I agree with
onehundred80's comment earlier. I seriously doubt the OEM hatch struts for the Crossfire were specifically designed for the Crossfire. Most likely, Chrysler requested quotes from various suppliers (based on allowable geometry for the strut mounting) and, once the contract was issued, Chrysler required their specific model numbers & labelling on the standard struts supplied. All they had to know was where to locate the ball mounting pins.
