I think it should work if the data on the EEPROM of the damaged board is not deleted and you solder this EEPROM to the other board. But I don't know if this really work.

viper, please reread xfFreChris's post. The rfid chip is the one from INSIDE his original key. He asked if he swaps the rfid chip into a different FOB, with his original key blank, it will work. Just linking it to the car lock/unlock/alarm is needed since it is the rfid chip from his original key. I saw nothing about him having a different SKREEM in the car. If he has a damaged FOB circuit board, he will have to use the key to lock/unlock but as soon as he inserts the key in the ignition with the original rfid chip is in the FOB, the car WILL start. That circuit board in the FOB is only for the REMOTE lock/unlock & alarm function. There are a number of xf FOB's around that can be used to replace the FOB circuit board so he can have the lock/unlock/alarm function back (a complete working key FOB). All he has to do is make sure the key blank, rfid chip from his broken car FOB, and the circuit board in the replacement FOB case and he'll have a whole key that works.
