1) if you know the numbers from the existing TPMsensors, do you still need to trigger them?
2) if trigger is required, can the Autel 601 (or Autel 501) trigger/read Schrader sensors?
The Schrader site does not list any options for Autel.
3) if the Autel cannot read Schrader, any recommendations for relearn tool for Schrader sensors? There appears to be a wide variety on their site. Leaning toward EZ Sensor pad
4) if you have the emulator and know the numbers associated with the 4 sensors do you still need the relearn tool for the sensors before they go onto the wheels.
5)if you have a relearn tool that can apply the numbers to the sensors, why do you need the emulator.
If I’ve missed a post that explains my apologies.
Hopefully, other members who have had experience with cloning sensors can respond to you but I thought I would share my experience which may help clear things up for you.
My TPMS indicatior was on when I bought my car over 2 years ago. I decided to wait until I bought new tires to address the sensor issue. I wanted to go the clone route because I didn't want to have to hunt down a dealer who could 're-learn' the new sensor IDs, nor did I want to build a DRB III Emulator. When I bought my tires at Direct Tire, they advised against cloning the sensor because they were likely dead (because of the car's age) and their IDs couldn't be read. Instead, they installed the sensor that was listed in their database for the car - a Redi-Sensor Dill 7004. They said that they would be happy to activate each sensor for me during a future visit as long as I was able to initiate the 're-learn' sequence for the car, since they had no way to do that.
I put together the DRB III Emulator, and returned to the store a few weeks later. They came out with one of their tire tools (It was some sort of Autel tool), and activated each sensor in sequence as prompted by the Emulator's "re-learn" feature. The TPMS light went out and I drove away a happy man!
So, I can't answer your numbered questions from the point of view of cloning the original sensors but the take-away should be:
If you are able to clone, you shouldn't need to execute the "re-learn" process and, therefore, don't need the dealer's help or the DRB III Emulator.
At least, that's my understanding. Hopefully, someone with direct experience with cloning sensors can chime in.
