You didn't look closely enough, there is
ONE, yes
ONE post in
ONE thread that I know of that addresses it and it's by the inventor of the "SKREEMULATOR". His assertion is that many or most failures are due to the SKREEM "running out of codes". That is, there are only so many 'STARTS' built into the SKREEM. I have a hard time with this explanation, but fact is, he knows way more about the SKREEM than I do!
Speaking as a life-long electronics technician, I believe (but can't prove) that it is, at least at times, caused by electrical system disturbances that also have destroyed airbag, seatbelt and other modules. ANY electronic module with microprocessors, LSI chips or VLSI chips are susceptible to voltage spikes.
One way to put a stop to some potential spikes is to replace your battery at four year intervals (I do).
Another tip I use is to install one of these redundant ground cable mods (which I also did):

I also keep my battery terminals CLEAN and TIGHT (the battery is your car's best electrical system filter, it acts as a HUGE, HUGE capacitor - but it can't do this effectively if there is resistance in the battery connections).
I also use conventional lead-acid batteries, because the new chemistries, from what I can tell, have an odd RC time-constant.
I"ve been here twelve years and been an ET 39 years, can't come up with much more than that.
