PLEASE let us know (the membership) what you find/found. If you have never tested a diode, it's simple with a VOM. Once you get that relay out (again, forgive me if it is outside the relay), take a picture of the circuit board and post it. If I remember that tutorial correctly, there IS a picture in that .pdf. I also am not sure the same diode in there is the one that always failed. Either way, if it is a bad diode, we can help you for a little time and a small cost for that generic diode. Good luck!
