This is happening more and more. I worked on a car back in about 2018 that they had full heat coming out of the vents at all times. I looked and the duovalve had no power at all, and with no power, the valves are open wide.
So, I got to tracing, never could find where the break was, so I wired directly from the connector on the valve to the little fus box next to the battery, put a 15 amp fuse in line and the car was good to go.

As the cars age, we will see more and more of this. I gotta say, you did good tracking that down. I"m happy it was where you could see it and get at it.
