Check the fuse first on the air pump?
I really appreciate your help.
THere is no fuse ON the air pump, it's on the RCM and it is not the problem. (Check it, but if it is blown, you need a new airpump.)
GENERALLY, this is caused by fractured solder joints on the RCM board, but it can also be an open air pump relay coil on the RCM. As a last resort, the air pump motor may be bad, in which case you need a new air pump.
@tighed1 offers a really good RCM refurbish service, you can email him at
tighed1@hotmail.com to get the particulars. Until you get hold of him, just put your spare RCM in.
Don't have a spare RCM in the trunk? Why not? Just wait till the engine control relay dies - you will be calling for a tow home then. I ordered a new RCM and sent my bad one to DJ. I now have all I need in the trunk: Spare idler pulley, spare belt, spare crank sensor and spare RCM. All those items fail, generally before 100,000 miles. I won't drive the car without them, not anymore, that is.
