I had to reach out to a local distributor/agent for the door openers, told him what I needed and he handed me a repeater.
it works in tandem with the newer openers and has its own remote to allow you to “train” your car.
you plug it into a power outlet, sync the remote for the repeater with your opener and then take that remote to the car and sync it

its an extra 2 steps and an additional $25 for the part. It’s been plugged in for the fast 4 years and has worked fine
When we got a new garage door opener with cable drive, this is what I encountered when attempting to sync the Crossfire with the new opener. The instructions with the new opener stated I needed a 'bridge' device to connect the Crossfire Homelink system to the new opener. Since I have the app for the new opener on my cell phone, I figured the 'bridge' device wasn't needed. I did have to purchase additional remotes (beyond the 2 that came with the opener) for my 'driveway fleet' as none of the old remotes would sync to the new opener. (Note: I did include 1 additional remote beyond what I needed for future acquisition, when I find what I'm looking for! )
