I have one that came with the antenna gasket I bought. I put it on when I installed the gasket, but took it off because I wanted the stock look.
I have a lot of hills and valley's around me and I would think the 16 inch antenna would get better reception. I don't know for sure because I've never tried the short one, except in my garage.
