I have almost 49k miles on my car. I replaced my original Crankshaft Position Sensor with a new BOSCH replacement. I did it because I wanted to know how to do it in case it did fail. I kept the original as a spare.
If it does happen, you can cool it down by pouring water on it to cool it down. Or wait about 20 minutes with the hood open to let it cool. The car should start again if it's the CPS.
