Arrow **Needswings CAI review***

I just received my CAI system today from Needswings. When I first started unpacking the contents I could tell that Rob and his team take pride in their products. It reminded me of opening up an Apple product, for those of you who have you now what I mean by this. Everything is individually wrapped and protected by lots of packing material ensuring that your system won't be damaged during shipment. The quality of items used are top notch and the welds for the PVC bung are perfect! I opted for the raw aluminum finish which I feel looks hardcore in the engine bay.

Installation was easier than I had expected. I always take my time when doing stuff like this as I like to clean around stuff that normally doesn't get cleaned but I could see this install going in less than an hour for sure. Only basic tools are needed, no you don't need any Torx bit drivers for this install.

Starting up the car for the first time I just tapped the throttle and the damn thing jumped to 3000 RPM while accompanied by that familiar open element K&N filter suction sound. I took out my brother in law who assisted in the install and all we could say was HOLY $HIT!!!!! We were both giggling uncontrollably with this system. To say that this intake woke that car up is an understatement. The car has way more grunt down low (not to mention top end) and the blower sound is way deeper now.

In closing I don't have anything bad to say about this product nor the company that produced it. Rob, this is an amazing bolt-on addition to this already amazing car. Please continue your development on this car so that the world can see what it really missed out on. I'll take some pics of the engine bay—if anyone would like to see anything in particular with the system just let me know.

I have lots of detailed pictures starting on Page 2 of my Gallery if you sift through them. The first I time I punched it off the line with the ESP off, I about $HIT myself! It really does feel like a different car. I'll add to the reviews as I can. I appologize for not doing so before now. I've just found myself in a huge time crunch between working 55 hours a week at my current job and "looking" for a new one at the same time. I'm going to "try" and make it to the track this weekend and get some numbers...

Shoot needswings a PM or an email, he will likely sell you one unfinished. I don't believe he has any coated yet.

Wait until you put a few hundred miles on her and the ECU fully adjusts!

I've put about 225 miles on mine since I put it on. I haven't noticed that it is changing. Feels the same now as when I put it on. Which is still a very good thing. I have noticed a "slight" increase in fuel economy. The gauge isn't dropping as fast as it did. I can usually plan on getting right at 50 miles per 1/6 of the tank by looking at the guage. Right now I have 197 miles on this tank of gas and it's still closer to 1/2 full than 2/3 empty. Usually at when the gauge is at this point I've only got about 160-170 miles on the tank. I'm guessing this it doion about 1-1.5 MPG better. Not bad considering I've been stomping on it more than usual.

They are at SEMA now so I wouldn't expect to get an immediate answer back.

I sent a PM on this board to him, and he replied the next day or same day, then emailed me pics and pricing information.

Try to shoot him a PM on here and include your email address so he can email you the info.

I was inquiring about an unfinished intake though, so if you want it powder coated you may have to wait a little longer.

Great pictures of the Needs Wings intake. Maybe you could remove the belt/supercharger cover (sort of looks awkward without the old air boxes) then you could show off the pretty SRT6/AMG engine plate. LOL

Very nice pic of your new fender badges.

Thanks, I've been debating on what to do with the Engine Cover. Most of the Aluminum under the hood is pretty badly oxidized, that's why I haven't put the Engine badge on yet. I need to figure out how to clean things up to look a little smoother and presentable. I just think it looks kinda naked without the belt cover, but it does look goofy without the air boxes. Not sure what to do with it. Obviously, no one has had this problem yet...

That's why I was wondering who was going to be the first one to modify the passenger air box so that the needswings intake could pass through/under it. This way you can leave the air boxes on the car, and the engine cover doesn't look so out of place.

I'm all about performance, but one of the main reasons I haven't picked up the Needswings kit yet is because of the looks. This car is 'technically' for my wife, and if I ruin the looks of the engine she may not like it much . She's not worried about making it faster.

My co-worker with the SRT said the same thing. He purchased an SL55 Y-Pipe and he's going to try to make his own intake assembly with dual pipes and attempt to leave the air boxes in place so the engine looks complete. We'll see what happens.

I've been running mine without the engine cover for months. I like to see my engine especially with that nice blower sitting there. Now with the airboxes removed it looks really awesome in my opinion.

Right on dude! It's also fun to show people the "AMG" stamp on top of the motor. All the sudden they start to respect the little SRT...

Now all you need are the AMG calipers and rotors to match.

Most of the people around here have no clue what AMG is... (when I say around here, I mean around my house...not around this forum)

Edited...Some people took it wrong due to my poor choice of wording, my mistake!
