Hi everyone,
Today I changed the oil and oil filter on my 2004 Crossfire. No problems except for the drain plug washer (sometimes called a crush washer}. In February 2019 I ordered two Mann oil filters and two Mahle oil drain plug washers from Rock Auto for my 2004 Chrysler Crossfire. The oil filters are fine but the Mahle B32518 copper drain plug washers do not fit a 2004 Crossfire. They are too small. I checked the oil drain plug washer for a 2004 Mercedes Benz SLK 320 since the Chrysler Crossfire and Mercedes Benz SLK 320 are the same car mechanically. RockAuto shows the Dorman 65399 drain plug washer for the MB SLK 320. I have ordered the Dorman 65399 from RockAuto today hoping that it is the correct drain plug washer for my Crossfire. Someone at RockAuto needs to review these two drain plug washers and remove the Mehle B32518 drain plug washer from the Chrysler Crossfire listings. It is too small and will not fit. To complete my oil and filter change I re-used the old drain plug washer. When I receive the Dorman 65399 drain plug washer that I ordered from RockAuto I will let the Forum know if the Dorman 65399 fits our Crossfires. My suggestion to anyone who will be changing the oil and filter in their Crossfire is not to order the Mahle B32518 listed on the RockAuto website as the drain plug washer for our Crossfires. It is too small and will not fit.

The inside diameter is 14.3 mm (.563') with an outside diameter of 19.8 mm (.780") by1.4 mm (.055") thick.

Painted the engine cover silver with the center painted silver/blue added a crossfire domed decal on the emblem and plastic chrome edging to seperate the colors

Thanks for the info. I thought that the Dorman 65399 was the correct drain plug washer.

Time for the oil change, filter change, and tire rotation. Used Mobil1 0W-40 and 2 bottles STP engine oil treatment. Also 1 bottle STP Super Concentrated gas treatment in fuel tank. Tightened filter cap 221 inch/lbs. Reset FSS and it only took 2 times. First time was caught reading instructions and timed out. 2nd time was the charm and showed reset. All good!

Very good. But, I’m curious about your theory of adding STP oil treatment (2 cans). I’m the same age as you and grew up using STP oil treatment in my first car - a very used ‘63 VW Beetle to keep it running. Loved watching Andy Granatelli marketing the stuff. But I’ve been wondering about whether it’s still useful for a modern engine. And I’m wondering if they’ve kept the same formula or updated it. I’ve got a 2005 Crossfire Limited Roadster with 70,000 miles. I’m still using just the European blend of Mobil1 0W-40.

My thoughts too.
I think that if cars needed STPs ingredients then Mobil and other makers would add it at their refineries, all these additives are mostly ways to make money for their makers. The results to the user are none except to lighten their wallets.

I think that if cars needed STPs ingredients then Mobil and other makers would add it at their refineries, all these additives are mostly ways to make money for their makers. The results to the user are none except to lighten their wallets.
I agree with that.
Only additive I ever use is the occasional bottle of Techron, and I'm not even sure that does any good.

Not true at all have you ever had your oil tested, if not its really useful information

Have added STP engine oil treatment on every car I've owned. Cemented when I had a timing chain and gear on my GM 1989 Buick Park Avenue when I was a student in a tech college. Happened to break down in the college parking lot, and the auto courses instructor took it in as a project car (replacing the timing gears and chain). After he had his students tear down the pan and timing cover (also requiring an oil/filter chance since it all ended up in the filter and pan). he asked how many miles were on the car. I told him it was 140,000 plus and he couldn't believe it based on how clean everything was on the lower end. Showing him the service booklet (as I do all the recurring maintenance) he shook his head impressed with the condition of that 6 cylinder motor. All my cars get STP engine oil treatment when oil/filter is changed, my XF gets it every oil change since new (after first verifying it is 100% compatible with Mobil1 oils from Mobil1 when I first bought the car). I use 2 bottles because they recommend one for every 4-5 quarts oil. Been happy with it, and use it every oil/filter change.

I have had my oil checked once, to check for any abnormal wear. I change my oil every year after less than 2,500 miles, I do not believe in the 7,000 mile figure, it is too much.
I believe STP is a waste of money, change the oil more frequently if you value your engine.

I totally agree 7000 is just too many , i like to stay around 2500 3000 range. Oil is cheaper than a motor

Upgraded to SRT calipers, slotted rotors, ss lines and Magna flow exhaust.

Ordered a new Behr German radiator for the black srt. Had been losing water, rented a coolant system pressure tester and the radiator leak appeared. It had been spraying into a split in the plastic intake runner and causing some gurgling sounds that I mistakenly thought might be coming from either the cat or the muffler. Thankfully neither. PEACE

Did simple mod adding black metallic USA flag to front quarter panels. Portion of cost goes to Vets and is patriotic and looks cool.

Magnetic USA flag waving proudly from my 04 Xfire.

I cleaned the ragtop with 303 Cleaner and then lovingly layered three coats of 303 Fabric Guard. My ragtop looks almost new and waterproof!!

Tomorrow hope to clean the wheels with Gtechniq W2 universal cleaner and then apply C5 Wheel Armour. This will give the wheels a slick coating and no more black brake dust sticking to the wheels! (I'll take pictures!)

Completed radiator replacement sucessfully and purged the system, all tests ok on the 05 black srt-6 with 160,000 miles. It deserved a new radiator, and hoses too while I had it all open !
