Finally got ahead enough on the two project Crossfires today that @QuadPrism and I tackled a major annoyance on my 04 SSB. Ever since installing some new exhaust components, the car has had this awful rattle that makes the whole thing sound like a terrible jalopy at idle, and had a really strange loud rattle on decels. Car sounds like a complete piece of junk. It's loud! This has been going on for nearly 6 months. Today was the day. We were going to stomp this stupid noise out. After getting the car up in the air, I got under it with it running. Clanging away loudly, the noise was isolated to the right side pipe alongside the transmission pan. Sounded like a bolt was rattling inside the pipe. Turned the car off, and William crawled under shaking the exhaust pipe wildly. Rattle came back. Now it sounded like it was up at the exhaust manifold. Well almost. Wouldn't you know it? The #^!%@ O2 sensor had simply backed out and was rattling away! Tightened it up, no more rattle. Took 10x as much work getting the car up in the air than it did to fix. Anyway, happy Crossfire owner again. Check the simple stuff!

Yes that is hilarious.
Almost like the guy who had a clog in his sewer pipe.
He took and snaked the line.
But he couldn't find the clog so he kept inserting it farther and farther.
Then after almost all the snake was in the pipe did it catch.
He pulled and pulled but couldn't get the snake to come loose. He called his wife in the bathroom and they both pulled and pulled to no avail.
So he ran the rest of the snake out the door and hooked it to his truck bumper..
Then giving the truck some gas he started to pull the snake.
Truck started to spin the tires and was having a tough time.
The wife heard something in the backyard and looks out the bathroom window to see fence posts wiggle then snap off and dive into the earth and burrow towards the house.
She runs out to tell her husband.
They both go look out back.
Seems the snake had gone up through a clean out, ran to the barbed wire fence and became tangled.
Poor guy was trying to drag the whole fence down into the cleanout.

Glad you found the problem before things got too involved.

Grill prototypes I’m working on. The final versions will be 3D printed. I’ll be making these available.

In November, 2017 we had a similar problem with our 2005 roadster. Replacing the Engine Management (Fuel Pump
Relay), part number 5099007AA, fixed the issue. Could be there are ways to repair the existing relay. Should look around in this forum.

This past week, @QuadPrism and I finished our 2004 alabaster coupe (manual) project car. This car was a complete basket case when it arrived. Not only was it pushed onto (OK, winched onto) the trailer, it leaked water into the trunk, where it sat. Anything that could be rigged on a car, was rigged on this one. The interior was nasty with dirt, mold, court summons papers, you name it. The parking brake shoes and springs were removed, and replaced with string. The engine wouldn't run. HVAC wouldn't run. Some oddball size of LEDs were laying in the headlamp housings, in place of the halogens. This car was a mess! We started on it before it was pushed off the trailer, and got it running, drove it off. Took it for a quick spin down the street, and it was flat dangerous. Got to work. Complete front suspension and steering, replaced. Interior majorly overhauled, new headliner, different seats, lots of cleaning, ozone treatments, painted panels. Replaced HVAC blower and resistor. Tons of engine work, all fluids, filters, plugs, etc changed. New tires, and an alignment. More cleaning. Polished, waxed paint, and applied a new pin stripe. Drove it up and down our street about a dozen times, and it felt OK. Got a tag for it Thursday afternoon, put it on, then without any further testing, we jumped in the car at 5pm, and drove 325 miles to Atlanta. Never skipped a beat. Flogged it a bit on the return trip Saturday, and it just purred along! Got it home, and was just about ready to give it a cleaning, and put a for sale sign on it. William ( @QuadPrism ) fell in love with it, and now his black 04 coupe (Toothless) will be put up for sale in its place! What a story, eh?

p.s.- William plans to get a little paintless dent repair done, windows tinted, and will swap his cedar interior from his black car to this one. He plans to drive it at the fall Dragon event.

I drove ours to our 2 year old granddaughter’s birthday party outside of Knoxville. It drove perfectly and got at least a couple of looks. It’s sometimes the simple things that make me smile. 🙂

Last week l sat and watched as my passenger seat had the eight way adjustment added by bluecoupe and MrNiftie, I sat and sipped on a beer. It was a nice day to do it, nice and warm and I never raised a sweat.
It’s nice to have friends, I should add that my back and finally my hips were causing pain, so I do have an excuse. An hour or so rest and the pain goes until I start leaning over too much. I did manage to help get the seat out of the car though.
It worked just fine so it was a successful job they did.
