So, as I write, I am sitting here enjoying an Oliveros King Havano Maduro Fuerte and an Amber cider. Notes of leather, smooth draw, something nice that i can't quite place at the moment. An inch into it, and it's just getting better. It just hit me, something woodsy, but I still can't place it. Maybe a few more sips of the cider will help clear my random memory. Hope I don't get to drunk to report back......

Roasted nut flavor, likely. Or an oaky note.

My wife just bought me a box of Alec Bradley Tempus Maduro... Simply incredible.

Been a while since this thread has had some action, I plan to breathe (or puff) a little life back into it.

Smoked a few fantastic ones lately, the one that sticks out the most though is the Oliva Serie-V Melanio.

It's a Sumatra wrapper with Nicaraguan and Jalapa fillers. Notes of toast, unsweetened chocolate and coffee, with a peppery finish. Super-smooth draw, seamless wrapper, and excellent construction. Breaks cleanly and evenly, nice white ash.

Son in law was in Miami for the Orange Bowl and went to cigar rolling demo by Ramar Cigars. Sent me a couple of Seleccion #1 (6 3/4 by 42). Was a very nicely crafted stick. Firm with a smooth draw and a nice even burn. Very light and mellow with just a hint of spice on the palate. Needs a bit more zip for me. Good cigar for under $100 a box. Would consider if hosting a bunch of occasional smokers.

I had the privilege of smoking the Flor de las Antillas Double Toro. The Toro just won cigar of the year, and when I went in the local smoke shop and saw a box laying there, I had to take a draw.

This puppy did not disappoint. I detected notes of nutmeg, toast, and some vanilla undertones. I had two people walk by and ask what I was smoking simply from the rich smell. Construction was superb, the draw was VERY free (I love that) and the flavors all mellowed together perfectly. I literally didn't want to retire the cigar, smoked it to my knuckles. Without a doubt, box-worthy. Retail was $9.95. I honestly liked it just as much as the Melanio.

Here's a link:

While this certainly pales in comparison to the fine smoke above, I enjoyed a delightful Serie-G Figurado on Christmas Eve. I had forgotten what a great smoke this was, a bit more mellow than the V and it was only $6 retail. It's the second pic.

I'm an avid smoker as well and Man-O-War kicked my ***, light headed and sick to my stomach. I think I smoked it to quick, didn't pace myself. So Doc even us experienced cigar smokers get our *** kicked every so often.

Was it the Ruination? I've heard excellent things about that one.

Sorry for the slacking, guys. I've been more engaged on the MB-World cigar thread, so I get my 'fix' over there. And of course, those of you on Facebook see a few here and there

I will be updating this thread with all of the better ones since January... Some definitely stand out from the others.

In the meantime, I couldn't not pass this deal on to you guys -- below is a link to a helluva deal on a sampler pack:

First Class Intro Sampler - Cigars International

The above link should give you a price of $15 for eight good cigars and the "Herfador". The smokes aren't what I would consider the A-list brands, but they're very good -- specifically the Romeo y Julieta, Obsidian, La Gloria Cubana, This is what I received in my sampler today:

1 - Romeo y Julieta Reserve Churchill (7.0"x54)
1 - Macanudo Hyde Park (5.5"x49)
1 - La Gloria Cubana Wavell (5.0"x50)
1 - 5 Vegas Classic Robusto (5.0"x50)
1 - Obsidian Robusto (5.5"x54)
1 - Garo Double Habano Torpedo (6.0"x52)
1 - Nestor Miranda Doppelbok Robusto (5.0"x50)
1 - Torano Noventa Santiago (5.0"x50)

Anyone smoked anything good recently?

Stay tuned for more reviews in the next few days

I don't remember exactly which one it was. By the way nice sampler John. I buy most of my sticks from CI. My brother and I just attended their Cigar Feast in the Pocono mountains PA. a few weeks back, it was fantastic, came home with about 100 or so cigars and few other goodies as well.

Man!!! That sounds awesome! Is it annual, or a few times a year? Might be worth the drive for me

I love CI, I have to pace myself because every time they ship a catalog, I want to buy something LOL. Cuts into the mod budget

Any interest in this thread still? I have had the pleasure of enjoying SEVERAL good sticks in recent months, been a little light on updates here because I've mainly been updating the thread on MB World.

Cheers,

I am game! Didn't know this thread was around. 5 Vegas Cask Strength from a 5 Vegas sampler. A little too harsh for my taste, but not as rough as your typical maduro. Sharp and strong aftertaste but a well built stick, asked about an inch before it needed to be tapped. I need to find some medium bodies. Rocky Patel The Edge is one of my faves but I hate paying full price!

Like this thread wish it was still alive... Got my hands on a NUB Connecticut over the weekend. I believe they are 8.50 a stick. Very good experience nice thick smoke kind of tight draw. Very earthy flavor not my preference. I dont smoke all that often and I smoked this pretty fast with no ill effects.
