Since that caught my interest, I looked up signal codes on the Internet. What I found was that Signal 9 meant stolen license plate. "Disregard" is a police 10 code; 10-22 specifically. And Signal 3, is hit and run (which makes Mrmiat's post quite amusing).

I've been impressed 80% of the time by Leo's professionalism. I've been tempted to run for my life 2 times too. I had a state trooper in west Texas, after stopping me for 61 in a 55, tell me he had 3 options since I was from a state that had no extradition agreement with Texas, I can let you go, take you to jail until the judge can see you on Monday, or shoot you and leave you in the ditch. Sooooo I'm a super duper yes sir, no sir type of guy. I don't say anything unless asked. I don't do anything unless told to. BTW, he let me go. I was afraid for my life. Did I tell you he unsnapped and pulled his gun halfway out of the holster walking to my car? I have a brother that lives in Texas now. I haven't seen him in 30 years, more or less. If he wants to see me he can come to P.R. I'll never go back to Texas on my own free will. I've been stopped maybe 10 times in my life. Get one of the bad ones and you'll learn real fast how powerless you are. The other experience where I thought I was dead was on my motorcycle when I was 16. I was followed for 2 miles at 2:00 AM at 5 feet off my rear wheel by a car. I was completely blinded and frantically debating running for my life. I pulled over instead and the car put on it's strobe lights. Thank god, a cop! I got a ticket for having a burned out tail light. Freak about 5' tall with a John Wayne complex. Be careful, most are doing a job but every now and then you get a adrenaline junkie.

Les

Ugh sorry you had to deal with that. Pretty disgusting behavior by the LEO.

While there are good cops, I know I'm going to get flack for this, there are many d bag cops as well. Here in the east coast, especially the north east we have a super high quotient of d bag cops. These are the same guys who were bullies in school or just plain bad people, became cops, and now they have carte blanche to do what ever they want. The things I've seen cops do here in CT is astounding.

It is sad that the cops are so poor in the NE. I am especially sad about that Texas cop. Being a Texan, it bothers me that that one ran off a future Crossfire owner! I honestly have rarely run into a bad cop.

The Tailgating cop that I posted about was one. I am now 63. Then, when I was 20, I ran into another mean one but was protected by a good cop. 2 bad ones in 47 years of driving! And I have been around (or pulled over by) a bunch of cops in my life! Maybe 100?

Let me count the ways.

Running red lights at will
Speeding through residential streets
Shaking down minorities for money
pulling over pretty women with a fake traffic stop just to try and get their number *this actually happened to my girl*
Using their siren to cut through traffic, only to see that car parked at the highway McDonalds for lunch
Pulling over every brown person they see driving any semblence of a nice car
Lying on a police report to protect a friend who had an illegal gate across an access road causing my brother to lose the use of his right leg
And hundreds of other abuses of power to long a list to type here.

all this hero BS is to condition the populace to accept authoritarian rule without question. There is a story today about police officers forcing **** cavity searches on a poor schmuck because they suspected he had drugs, there were no drugs and the person was just a normal worker. Guess what, they sent a bill for 6k to the guy for the **** cavity searches!!!!

They are fallible people just like everyone else, but their position allows them to be above the law most of the time. Growing up in the inner city, you get to see the not so nice side of the police.

Not in this state, but I know it in FL...Not all states use the same 10 code or signal code....my cop buddy in FL...said, come on down....lol

My cars plates now that I am done with it... black roadster carries OFF DUTY, the blue coupe FMRCOP...when plates come around again....we will change them .... I like supporting the wounded warrior project, so we will go with that theme next...

Right, sorta like telling a rape victim "hey, you shouldn't have looked so sexy"

With the privatization of prisons, I give this country 50 years till its a complete police state. Hey, but you'll be "safe"

Now that is just asking for a keyed door or some other retribution from a disgruntled taxpayer.
PS
I side with Mayaman. We have the same ***** up here, good people died to prevent what's happening with the abuse of our rights. Cops think it's them against us, if they got rid of the bad apples instead of covering up for them we would be a lot better of.
