Default Deal of the Century

I just got the deal of the Century! I took our Gold Crossfire in to get the complimentary 5 year inspection completed to retain the lifetime Power Train warranty. The lady came back soon and asked if I wanted the oil changed, stating that it was almost due. I told her that to save money I bought the oil at Costco when on sale because it was cheaper and the filter anywhere when they were on sale. She responded that they had bulk Mobil 1 synthetic 0 w – 40 oil and would make me a good price on the oil and filter change. I’m crippled up from a cortisone shot in the back right now so told her to do it!

I get the car back and the bill was only $33.45! She lists the filter for $14.23 and labor for $16.84 with an environmental fee of $2.38! I can see no charge for the 8 1/2 quarts of oil!!

I have taken my own oil and filter there and it cost me from $18 to $25 depending on who the supervisor was. You can bet I will keep returning. This must have been a customer appreciation charge. I will thank them forever.

Unheard of. I'd take a couple of pizzas over there this week to help them remember you!

The $14.23 filter is probably a paper one.

I think I know why I got such a deal on the oil change.

During the 5 year inspection they noted that it was close to oil change time. Thinking I would authorize it to keep from coming back in a short time they changed the oil and filter. When I explained that I had the oil and filter at home she was rather embarrassed and 'gave' me the bulk oil that cannot be noticed in an inventory. There wasn't three minutes elapsed time between her asking about an oil change and the time they brought it to the front door ready to go! That was the good deal she promised.

I will likely drop a couple of pizzas off for their enjoyment.

Check the dipstick and make sure the oil is new. Maybe they didn't do it at all and just reset the oil change indicator. They usually don't keep our oil in bulk inventory as there's not a huge need for it.

The oil is fresh. I don't care about fleece or paper. I'm 79 years old and have used paper all my life with no difficulties.

Thanks for the advice but I'll pass on this one. My 2008 car has just over 10k miles and my wife's has just over 13k so we aren't tough on them.

We also use my nearly new 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 80k and a 2013 Infiniti G37X with 2k on it.
