Tire Size
These are "coach built" cars with bodies built and installed by a different manufacturer (Karmann) than the manufacturer of the running chassis (Daimler). So there are going to be indivdual differences in each car. Plus these cars are now nearing being a decade old and each chassis has it's own history of use/abuse. Suspensions sag over time.
Yes to the old TPMS and I have heard many more people who had no trouble with the 285/35's than had trouble with that size. But, as Discount mounts the rear tires, we'll check and I might be forced to downsize. Discount is making a lot of $, so they can be flexible. I bought my TSW Wheels from them, my current Michelins (ps2's) and now a set of Hankooks! They ought to love me!
Bought a pair, doesn't look like the prices are valid anymore
For those of you interested in fat and sticky rear tires, tirerack has 285/35/19 p-zero corsa systems on clearance for $230. These are original equipment on porsche gt2, Ferrari 360 challenge and the lamborghini gallardo. Unfortunately I didn't see matching front sizes on clearance.
