Thumbs up Remote lock

This is driving me nuts! My key remote will work when ever it wants. I changed out the batteries and still only works when ever. Anyone else experience this same issue and how did you correct it. My light only flash when the remote actually works.

Do you mean the light on the car, or the light on the remote? If the light on the remote isn't flashing the contacts under the buttons wear out eventually, best to check the simple stuff first.

How do I check the contacts?
I never noticed a light on the remote.

The red section on the front of the remote - when you press the button there should be a (fairly quick and dim) flash. If it's flashing reliably when you press lock/unlock then the contacts are going to be fine and you'll need to look elsewhere. Someone else would have to chime in on that though, my only other advice would be have the car battery checked if it hasn't been replaced in the last few years.

When the remote is activated the receiver on the car sends a signal to the security/air pump module in the trunk. This in turn flashes the lights and operates the air pump or vacuum pump cycle that opens or closes the doors. If the pump module is faulty then it probably will not work reliably. Faulty pumps are mostly due to water damage due to leaks in or around the trunk area.
Do you have problems locking and unlocking the doors with the switch on the dash?

Always nice when that happens, glad to hear it. If you search around there's directions for replacing the key fob case and keeping the guts here somewhere. I need to get around to it myself, ~$10 or less per remote, doesn't look that difficult... After 7-10 years I imagine a lot of ours could use replacing.
