2004 Crossfire Totaled
The ins co is only giving me $6760 if I keep my car and the repairs will cost $8600; I'll have to add an additional $1840 out of my pocket for a a Crossfire with a branded title.
On top of all of what I have previously stated, when they put my tail light back in the damaged quarter, they broke it much worst. It was barley noticeable before but now how two chips out of the corners. And ever worst when they were pull it off their frame rack they dinged the drivers door, which they state they will take care off but I can't imagine them doing a quality job on a totaled car. I think this is a perfect job for the paintless dent removers.

What's the damage to the frame? Even if the pictures are being kind it doesn't look thaaat bad from what I can see.
Resale is a bummer on these cars in general, never mind with a salvage title. If you want to keep it, the title shouldn't matter. If your looking for resale that 8600 is probably something you will never get back.
I'd still be interested though as long as there are no frame gremlins that would bleed my wallet
Then my leftovers could go towards putting a stick in an SRT

Also, as I was leaving the body shop one of the employees asked if I would call them before I made any decisions. So it appears that if you have a frame puller/ body shop it would be worth the repair.

It was knocking slightly in the morning and after Chrysler inspected it and after a lot complaining, I got them to put in a brand new engine. They claimed it was a $20,000 engine, which I'm not sure I believe.

You cannot say that, there is always the lemon no matter what you make. Bearings for instance can last for millions of revolutions but there is always one that fails after a few turns.
Even the 400,000 mile engine has to have some luck and good consistent maintenance.

Local Chrysler dealership changed hands.....was doing oil changes for $9.95.....they agreed to use my oil & filter & do it for that price. While there I won a $5.00 Target gift card. This little dealership is the kind that wouldn't have the correct filter anyway. Nobody there acted like they had ever seen a Crossfire before......one of the salesmen asked me if I would sell it to him personally.

Hey Guys. I still haven't decided what to do with my Crossfire but...
I just looked at a topless 05 with 9,500 org miles!!! I paid to have a carfax done on it before I took a day trip to look at it and the the report was clean and miles checked out!.
Would you pay $15,900 ($2,500 over kbb) for a practically new 05 convertible?
BTW, two scuffed rims and about 6 very minor door dings (very hard to spot but I'm good at this - hate those damn things). I'm sure the paintless ding guys could remove them all for $200.

call your insurance co ask how much they will pay if you can find a body shop to fix it. then you will be able to keep the car have it fixed and can still get it insured,,,you see if car is totaled and you get paid for the total you never get your title again,,,you get a rebuilt or totaled titled;
I was rear ended in my show truck, full of mods, they wanted to total it and pay me 7800,, I called and was told the would pay 5300 for repairs IF I COULD FIND A BODY SHOP TO DO IT, WITH A WRITTEN EST. I did that i got a dealer friend to write up an estimate for $5298. they paid me the 5298 less my 500 deductable, I fixed the truck myself and then made it a work truck, i kept full coverage on it also. jim

the salvage is so high on these cars, and parts are so expensive, that insurance companies would rather total them than fix them....its a shame but everyday there is one less and the survivors are worth a little bit more...

I say depends on how much you love the cars. I paid $12K 2 months ago for a 05 Roadster w/ 8600 original miles. I feel like I stole the car, only issue is the headlights were needing resto and I already did that. But now 2 months into ownership this is one of the best cars I have owned and in my 20 years of driving there have been close to 25 different rides.
