Seats
Alteration of CF seats? Not comfy during long trips. Just read some threads and looking for some advice. I'm 5'7" and find that the small of my back is not supported. I also find that the space where my butt hits and the area where the seat back and seat base meet may not be filled with body mass. In other words, lack of support from CF seats. Maybe my skinny *** is a detriment. I have a base coupe, cloth seats. Read a post that the leather seats are more comfortable. I can pursue used leather seats from ebay and upgrade to power adjust and maybe some extra comfort or look to find a cushion for the seat. I have tried a lower back support with questionable results. I also tried a seat fusion but it slides around and I don't like the feel of it. I also read about a gel seat for a motorcycle that CF owner suggested. Any advice? My *** and small of my back is killing me. Please don't suggest to eat more, don't think that will solve the problem, (but it might) Thanks to all!
Also, the Limited (my first two XFs) and Base (my current XF) seats pretty much performed the same for me. The base seats ARE more comfortable, but the small-of-back problem is the same in both.
I guess because the (V8 pins you back in the seat) I find the seats are great, i drove to the dragon 850 miles going up took our time, took 3 days ,,,going home drove straight through only stopped for gas and food,, no problem with comfort in the seat. jim
Ultimate gel seat cushion | eBay
I used a gel cushion on the console to rest my arm, it was actually for typists wrists. After a few years the seam split and a thin oily substance leaked from it, I would hate to get that on the SRT seat material. So just keep an eye on those seams.
"I"m 5'10" and around 200 - I have an issue with the small of my back and the XF seats would DESTROY My back"
Same. with 30" inseam. See post #2. If you have a coupe there is a lot you can do, a roadster, not so much.
I often drive a couple of hundred miles non-stop. If I try to do that sitting upright my back hurts. Reclining so the weight is on my shoulders it doesn't.
Add that the wheel does not tilt and the seat side bosters are for slim people & I almost passed on the Crossfire.after a test ride in a roadster.
So did three things:
1) raised back of seat about 1/2" & moved seat up until wheel in an acceptable posirion.
2) Carved side bolsters and raised center of seat so my hip doesn't hurt.
3) Carved about 4" out of the non-structural bulkhead behind the driver's seat.
Now is comfortable and just need to install the 2.87 rear end. May replace the cat-back with a single pipe and go to smaller diameter wheels for more compliance in the sidewalls (60 series maybe).
Don't think I've ever had a stock car.

I am assuming your arms are long by your driving position.
I have a Limited roadster and an SRT coupe. The limited seats seem a little more comfy on the initial set down but I have never driven it long distance. Put about 5k miles on the SRT coupe last summer, climbing in and settling into position it seems quite comfortable but after an hour and a half or so I start getting the need to change positions. Can't do, no where to move to so I have to get out and stretch for a few minutes. I also have a Dodge Magnum and I can drive a tank of gas in that thing because there is plenty of room to shift my seating position around. Maybe if I were 20 years younger I could ride longer in the SRT.........I can dream can't I.
30" inseam 32" sleeves ? I showed you how I drive, just very '60s formula car, lotsa recline, wheel all the way in & in lap, legs straight out in front (dead pedal removed), arms slightly crooked. Also carved out the side bolsters in seat so bottom is almost flat now.
Seat does go about 4" further back now that the bulkhead has been chopped.
