Default Old Tires

I am putting new tires on my Crossfire on Tuesday 11/11/14. The old ones are General Exclaims with about 25000 on them. The rears have no tread left ( I've got a use for the rears) but the fronts are 1/3+ or so tread left. If anyone can use them they can have them local pickup only in Lafayette Ind. Otherwise they go to the recycling on Tuesday.

I put Conti. DWSs on at the 12,000 mile mark cause the OEM Contis. Were horrible in the snow. Now, at the 25,000 mile mark (13,000 on the DWSs) the DWSs looks like I'll be lucky to get another 10,000 miles out of them....only about 4 32nds left. Now our 3,800 pound Escape 4x4 240 horse Turbo has 22,000 miles on it & it's OEM ContiProContact 235/45/19s still have 8 32nds left suggesting .....80,000 mile potential?????
What gives? I drive the AWD ESCAPE TURBO just as lively as I do the XF......why the hell do XFs eat tires so much....even wear.....doesn't look like an alignment issue.

There is a ProContact 275/40/19......would that fit on the back of the XF?

I managed to get around 42,000 out of a set of General G-Maxs. I had the DIY Rear Cambers and Front adjustment bolts installed, and did a side-to-side off rim rotation on both front & rears around 30,000. Even with the slight positive camber they wore very evenly. On my second set of G-Maxs now. (FYI: Generals are made by Conti)

Check the "treadwear" rating between the two.

I got 30k out of my first set of Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110

I'm currently on my second set and regardless of any of the negative reviews I find them to be an excellent tire for wear and grip and the cost

Both are made by Continental....the DWSs are UTQG 540 & the ProContacts are rated only 500. On the face of it the DWSs on the 3100 pound XF should last longer than the ProContacts on the 3800 pound Escape.....since they're both from the same manufacturer
and the DWSs have a higher UTQG rating? Literally, the ProContacts look like they are going to last 3X as many miles. I could understand it if I really drove the XF that much different than the TURBO ESCAPE.....but I don't. We're retired & the wife's almost always in the car with me & she gets sick if I drive aggressively.

I got 40,000 miles on my original set of Connie's before taking them off. The rears were down to the indication marks, while the fronts still had a lot of tread left.

I'm going to find out for myself on these because these are what I bought on clearance from Tire Rack. I only have around 650 in the set of four installation and all.
