Good news, my wife is pregnant!

We've been trying for almost a year and it finally happened, so we might as well prepare. I've always had my eye on the Abarth since its debut and finally came across one at a fantastic deal. Great little car and realy fun to drive. It's no XF, but might as well have a fun baby hauler.


Bad news, the Crossfire has to go...but now we have back seats (kind of, lol). Next up, her Miata is getting traded in.

No but really you should keep the Xfire for yourself and let your wife do the baby hauling in a fiat.

 

I am SURE a car seat will easily mount in the passenger seat, and that view baby will have looking at the sky when the top is down... PRICELESS! Have I convinced you yet?

 

Nope, because the Abarth is sitting in my garage and I've already got a list of mods, lol.

 

Congratulations on the kid, I have a boy 5 and a girl 8 and they both love riding in my XFIRE and ask all the time. I do not need a back seat when it just me going to work and back home, good on fuel good on insurance and fun to drive. Great for me. The 275 Gmax tires with xtra weight in back and drives alot better in snow than I thought it would, just hit car wash ever weekend wash salt out of wheel wells in hand bay, or I pull my pressure washer out.

 

Have always appreciated FIATs, 1200 roadster was the fastest shifting cars I've ever had & 124 Spyder was great crossing the Rockies. Have always liked DOHC engines just prefer a six. Key to longetivity was cleaning out the oil slinger on the front of the crank, if got sludged up oil pressure went south. Few knew about it.

That said I would think that a child's seat could be properly mounted in the rear of an XF coupe. Has nyone ever done that ?

I told my wife that I could "legally" put a baby seat in the XF with the passenger airbag disabled...she was not amused.

 

The baby coming had nothing to do with you getting rid of the XF. You just stated you already had a list for the Abarth. Who you trying to fool...lol. BTW....you will use that term again very soon 'cause babies love to barth...A? Congrats on the baby.....hopefully you won't regret your decision....

 

We have 2 two seaters, of course it had to go.

 

Congrats on the new arrival. Hopefully FCA will have an Abarth version of the Town & Country minivan available by the time # 2,3 & 4 come along.

I had two two-seaters when my wife was having twins. I know the feeling. Sportscar to a custom van....but it was a sporty looking custom van....good luck...

 

A Base Roadster with 130,000 miles? My limited has 113,000 on it and I bet I couldn't get $4000 trade in or more than $5000 selling it outright.

I am very interested in what you get for it - can't help but wonder.
Even tho mine is not for sale, and won't be, as long as it still runs.

 

Congratulations on your new baby! Oh and congrats on the kid too. ;-) I feel your pain - I had to sell the "fun car" when our first came along. But it all worked out because 4 kids later I needed a fun commuter that gets decent gas mileage (and along came the Crossfire).

Best of luck, and seriously - take harbor's advice and enjoy sleep while you can. Those first few weeks are rough, but worth it.

Congrats. Why not a Fiesta ST? Consider one? They are faster and perform better with a better aftermarket. Love the looks of them too. Don't get me wrong, I love the Abarth too.

 

I got a KILLER deal on this, the Fiesta ST wasn't in the same price range.

I sold my first TVR, a car I had spent 15 years in pursuit of, due to the same dilemma. I could be with the family or the car on those rare days days off. No room for three.

It would seem you have your priorities right.

Just under two decades later I was faced with a similar when my child's college tuition bill came due and the only disposable asset was my 1979 TVR 3000S, 1 of a worldwide production of 150. It, too, got gone for the kid.

 

When child #3 came along, my 1982 Jeep had to go since it only sat 4. It was a fun, Limited Edition in black with lots of chrome. Fast forward 16 years (to 2008) and said youngest child wanted a Jeep as her first car in high school. Go figure.


She ended up with a 2003 Audi A4 MT6 - much safer and nicer.


With 116k you won't get much. Keep it as a second, weekend car and continue enjoying it. Trust me, when the kid(s) leave home you'll be glad you kept that old toy.

 

do you have the rear hatch with glass ?
