car sputters at high rpm, misfires
After reading several posts, i have come to the conclusion that i need a new rcm module based on sudden sputtering when the car hits over 3k rpm. It runs but has misfires and is very sluggish. I replaced the egr valve and fuel filter so ill replace the rcm module and see how that goes. Does anyone else have the same problem
I had the same problem at around 100,000 miles. Changed all 12 plugs and plug wires.
All ok since then.
I also had a stuck-closed EGR valve - and all THAT does is remove some of the throttle delay - so much so, that I put a switch on the console to disable the EGR when I want to get 'zippy'.
How many miles do you have on the car since you changed plugs and wires?
My other guess would be marginal fuel pressure - you could measure it, memory tells me that the manual specifies something like 55 pounds in the injector rail.

I just changed my spark plugs 300 miles ago im now at 170,284 miles ill try the rcm module if that doesn't work ill get new coils and distributors.i replaced the egr valve
The coil packs probably could be replaced along with the wires but the problem i had was a delay on fuel pressure at higher rpms and the car didn't want to start now it runs like new i recently changed the spark plugs
I dont believe there is a distributor just coil packs i spoke too soon the car still dosent want to start maybe its the fuel pump ill run the fuel psi this weekend

im a mechanic gotta try harder buddy anyhow I believe the fuel pump is whats causing the the issue as far as the car not wanting to start hmmm ill have to buy a damn fuel pressure gauge
yeah tigh I recently changed the relay module for the fuel pump, engine control unit, air pump.I forgot what part number that relay is. It was simple just plug and play. The engine seems to run smoother the only alternative I can think of with a engine that has 170,546 miles on it is the fuel pimp which hasn't been changed as far as I know since 2004. It is a Bosch fuel pump and I can go online and get a Autobest fuel pump for about $46 on amazon
