Default Help me Decide: 2006-2008 Limited or SRT-6?

I sold my'06 Limited Coupe in 2011 and I'm looking to get back into aCrossfire. I've been mostly looking at sub-10,000 mile coupes and roadsters, but I'm seeing a lot of nice SRT-6's (like the one for sale by TommyT)

The car will see minimal use for the next 2-3 years after which it will become my daily driver--or at least that's the current plan.

If reliability and cost of ownership are my main criteria, does the SRT-6 have an advantage/disadvantage over the NAs?

The SRT6 has the same ownership expense as the NA, with the addition of the supercharger.
There may be additional maintenance cost involving that, with possibly higher insurance premiums and ad valorem taxes.
Also expect slightly less MPG with the SRT6.
( There IS a much bigger GRIN FACTOR with the SRT6, which more than offsets the other expenses )

SRT-6 is defiantly the way to go after having 3 NA's and now the SRT. I would go with the SRT.

Get the SRT6.

Two reasons come to mind.

One) You will always wish you had bought the SRT over the NA.
Two) We need the SRT6 models to be preserved by conscious owners and not in the hands of teenagers with rattle can painted wheels and mods.

I went back and forth over this when I was trying to decide. Eventually I asked myself if I would ever regret not getting the SRT. The answer? I would regret it every single day I owned the wrong car. Turns out I was right. But then, that's just me.

I just got a low mileage 2004 6sp (effectively a Limited). I knew going in it would be lower in performance than what I was used to. I had a 2006 Charger R/T and I do miss the torque, but once at speed, the base 3.2 is quite enough for the light and slippery Crossfire. I plan on getting a SRT8 392 in a couple years once all vehicles are paid off, and the Crossfire is an in-between car for me. I really wanted a 6sp, and fell in love with the color and condition of the one I got, I never really considered a SRT6. Looking back, for the money, and knowing more now, I would either have stuck with this, or maybe a Roadster Limited or Roadster SRT6. That I would have paid more money for.

Obviously the SRT costs more to run and could cost more if the SC needs fixing or you routinely shred your tires.

The advantage is the addition of 50% more power. This is the only advantage and it is a joy as you know.

Having had both I favor the SRT but for me it is really just a toy.

Since you already owned an NA, I would highly recommend the SRT6

Theyre cheap enough, buy one of each like I did, then you will never have the dilemma of which one to buy, only which one to drive..

Why no 2004 or 2005? I picked up a 2004 with 5,xxx miles this summer. And you get the exclusive auto dim mirror!

Nothing against the 2004-2005's. I just have not seen any low mileage ones.

And as a note for anyone that is considering them. I have had that type of mirror in at least 6-7 different cars, and the one in my Crossfire works the best. Probably because it is so low to the ground and in the direct path of headlights behind you.

Keep looking, they are out there.

If you have no issues with missing the third pedal, I'd say SRT all the way.

I was watching one of my favorite shows last night "Car Fix" and the one guy had a shirt that said
Too Much Horsepower
Said no one ever
