A $4,500 buff job.
Lemme stop and think about that.

You do not get much for $4,500 at a body shop these days. I'd say that quote was too low.

ritous1, if you decide to get it repaired, be sure to tell the insurance company that you'll be seeking diminished value as well. I'd tell them right now.

I don't think that is the kind of body he's insinuating...

Yea, finally someone that gets me.
I'm surprised Dave didn't catch that one, but then he's getting old, unlike me.

If I had damage like that I would want my car totaled, they just aren't the same after being fixed, they start rusting away where the damage is. I would get another low mileage one if I could.

Now this is good information. I had no idea there was such a thing...I may just pursue that. My only concern is I wouldn't want to do anything that might push the cost over the "total loss" line.

WOW! That doesn't even look as bad as mine. Just an absolute shame. People really don't appreciate these cars for what they are.

I have not seen that your have engaged a lawyer, get one on consignment and get after the other driver. I have had a fair share of accidents and always gotten full coverage and payment in addition to repairs, ask around.

Drunk ran down my mailbox that I made out of 1/4 diamond plate on 4" post and left, till I caught up with him- f150 totalled out and saved him from going into a deep creek. Court gave me over $1800 for the time and materials- it was 350# and withstood the local kids, broke many bats....Woody

Got a call today from the other parties insurance. The bodyshop found another $5500 in damage after tearing it down, so another Crossfire bites the dust. Their offer is $1100 less than I own on my loan. I guess I'll be moving on to something else.

First offer is usually absurdly low. Low settlement makes the adjuster look good. Unless you were found at fault they should be providing full replacement plus costs. Did you have any injuries ?

Agree at this point it is best to talk to a lawyer. Did you receive a complete accident report ? e.g. from https://www.flhsmv.gov/florida-highw...crash-reports/

This is about the time when you start to feel that whip lash injury, time to head to the physiotherapist I would imagine. I would not want to listen to the other parties insurance company, your insurance company should be your contact. The other one wants to settle this ASAP. Any charges laid against the other driver, if so you should not suffer because he made a mistake. Fight the good fight or they will walk all over you.

So I see, to me that is a shame, that car isn't that bad. And yes in most cases I believe your right, they never seem to be the same after being wrecked. But this damage is only to a small portion of the car. Trouble with ours cars are that they are so damn expensive to repair. And most OEM parts are far and few between. Just cost me $20 for 3 screws. Yea, I know paid to much......
