Default P0410

I changed my air filters today and cleaned the MAF sensor with MAF cleaner. Car is now running rough sometimes and I have CEL P0410. Do not know if this has anything to do with this but when I took the MAF sensor of it was on there really good. When putting it back on it seemed a little loose . Thanks

P0300= multiple cylinder misfire
P0306=cylinder #6 misfire
P0410= secondary air injection system. There are numerous post on this code, in particular. Recheck MAF for particulates, sounds like you have an obstruction, or are sucking air. Why was it loose ,going back together? Did locking tab seat? Was the sealing ring in good shape, did you inspect it? Is vent hose on?

The P0410 is usually caused by burnt contacts on the air relay in the RCM.
Only known cure is to replace the relay, or the RCM.
Sure, you can try cleaning the contacts and it might help for a short time, but it will be back pretty soon.

Sometimes?
I would say you have a leak in the intake system somewhere, maybe just the engine cover is loose or the joint at the TB and MAF housing.

Wifey just had the P0410 pop up on her N/A auto. She's her daily driver to work and she has always used Shell Premium w/ Nitrogen religiously. She went to fill up the other day and the station she goes to is closed for maint. So she stops in at my place to fill with some 91 NON-ethanol. When it came time for next fill-up, she went back to Shell, which is cheaper. Few miles on the way to work and engine light comes on. I told her that it's probably the difference in the ethanol that has caused it. Cleared the error but CEL came back the next day. Threw in a bottle of CRC 1Tank Power Renew 15oz Fuel System Cleanup. Few miles down the road and the engine light goes away and has never come back.

I found that the engine cover was loose. Also did a throttle reset. The MAF sensor was very dirty. Going to clean it every time I change the air filters. Running like a champ. Thanks.

The p0410 code has nothing to do with the fuel, it's the air injection pump, could be several things that caused the code but the most common is the RCM air pump injection relay, that pump pulls a lot of juice and and it causes a lot of arching at the relay contacts, more than likely the reason the light went out was because it made contact again and went through a couple of Cycles and the system turned the light off itself. It's not going to get any better by itself you're going to have to address the problem and fix it. PM tighten 1 for a very economical solution.

Well, ran like a champ to work but on the way home when I got off the interstate it tried to stall. Had hesitation several times when accelerating after that. still have the CEL. I am a novice so at this point I do not know what is going on. Did notice the CATS were making noise as though they are hot when I turned off the car. Thinking that may be the relay in the RCM.Any help greatly appreciated.Thanks

I can replace the relay for you.
Send your RCM and $27(postal rates went up) (PayPal or cash is cool) to:

DJ TIGHE

I'll inspect, redo bad solder joints, perform the Me So Horny mod (horn works w/o key) and replace the Air Pump relay (Engine Control and Fuel Pump relays if needed). I will then test your RCM in one of my cars. Then I will mail back the RCM to you via USPS Priority Mail (2-3 day). In most cases I get the RCM back in the mail the day after I receive it so yer looking at about a week total. If you want the package insured please include an additional $6. FYI, In the couple/few years that I have been doing this only one was lost in the mail.
Leave the case on and the fuses in. Email me as my forum mailbox is full. tighed1 @ hotmail.com
Please email return address also.
