Having trouble finding these error codes
Having trouble finding these error codes
Hello all,
I've been lurking on the forum here for a while, and need to ask for some help.
I have a 2004 Crossfire, and my 1st 11 years were trouble-free. In March of this year I started have strange problems, lights coming on, losing the ability to drive, etc. I spent a lot of time reading in the forums here.
After a disastrous $4000 bill with my mechanic, the problem continued to happen but they kept saying no errors. Needless-to-say, I lost it and found a different mechanic.
We just completed 2 days of diagnostics, determined that the main electric relay module needed to be replaced, and completed the work. On the invoice they listed all 12 codes they found initially set when doing the diagnostics. I've been able to find some of them - but I can't find these.
I really want to know, for my own education, what these codes are. I've check various diagnostic lookup tools and ODB codes and just dont know where to look. Feel free to point me to another document I might have missed.
Here's the codes I'm trying to identify - as written in the notes on my invoice:
Body Control: 1025
Stability Control: 1020, 1022, 1024, 1031
Inst. Panel: 1040, 1041, 1039
Please let me know if you can help me track these down :-)

Re: Having trouble finding these error codes
"Main electric relay module"? Did they actually call it that? Sounds like the Relay control module ($129 on line, plugs in without tools). I'll bet you paid 3 or 4 times that much, didn't you?
I cna't WAIT to see someone (Like Josh, Rudy or Rob) to chime in on THOSE codes.....

Re: Having trouble finding these error codes
It shows Part # 170 545 03 05 and description "Multi Purpose Relay". In the tech's notes he wrote "main electric relay module". I paid $328 for the part.
I do realize that I'm paying more, and I accept that. I'm not mechanically inclined, and since I don't plan to be - I realize that I pay more to have other people fix my problems. It's a trade off I can live with at this point in my remaining years on the planet :-)
I'd still like to figure out these codes though since they are in the tech's notes - curiousity gets the better of me.

Valuable lesson, please do not ever go to someone else and pay, before checking here!
Re: Having trouble finding these error codes
Thank you all very much. Bookmarked that OBDII diagnostics.
I learned a ton of lessons on this, and not all great unfortunately. The $4000 debacle was do to transmission fluid that had leaked through the car and into wiring it seems - as they showed me fluid everywhere. A bunch of very expensive parts ordered from the dealer later, and I still had issues.
I was pulling together all my previous invoices to find a new mechanic, and i noticed a comment in the notes section of an invoice from late 2014 that said "engine or transmission leak, should be monitored".
Now granted, it's my responsibility to have read my invoice completely but I'm still angry. I never, ever, ever let things like "leaks" go - if they had mentioned it to me we would have had a plan to fix it asap. Most likely could have prevented this expense..
But at least now everything is fixed again and I can drive without getting stranded and towed home :-)
