Default Stick on decals to prevent paint damage by hatch stops

My SRT came with transparent decals to prevent paint damage by the hatch jacking stops. These have done a great job.
My '04 NA did not have them and l put pieces of self stiking roofing flashing on the rugpbber stops, .i found it better than on the body of the car but still not perfect.

Question
Where can I get replace clear stick owns as the originals are starting to come loose at the edges. Are they OEM or were they added later, there are no marks on the paint under them so my thought is they are OEM.
The action of the bumpers hitting then pushes them out of the way, the clear ones have not moved, my old ones made from flashing moving a little each time.

Dave, they are OEM, I have them on the SRT and they were on the NA when I first got it. My GLK also has similar material on the rad support where the hood stops rest against it. On the NA, I've been using the dollar store self adhesive velcro strips, they work for a year or two. I have some scrap pieces of expel type clear material I can let you have if you want to give it a try?

My NA never had them as I had it from new. I am being pro active for once, they still look OK but the edges are starting to lift. As they are hardly noticeable that is what I want to use again
Are you going to London?

I'm passing on Plunkett's this year, the only reply I got was yours when I posted earlier. Weather doesn't look good, forecast is for thunderstorms today and tomorrow...typical.

My 04 NA did not have anything in the place of concern. The velcro has worked well for me.

Thanks James, I am searching for a replacement before mine get too shabby looking. These decals as I'll call them must stick really well as the stops tend to push anything on the paint down and anything I tried on the '04 moved. I out my pads on the bumpers themselves, the jagged pattern of them kept the pads in place and were hardly seen.

My hatch's clear protective film had started lifting around the edges. Took a heat gun and removed them and cleaned off the remaining adhesive. Most hardwares sell the industrial anti-slip stick on tape by the foot. There's both the black sand finish then there's the black rubberized texture type for steps and such. I cut out two strips of the rubberized type with sizzors, then rounded the corners. It's been about 5 years and they still look like new. The rubberized thickness keeps the hatch from rattling at high speeds with the windows down. I wouldn't recommend the sandpaper finish type. Squirrel Crusher

Thanks for that suggestion, as mine are not too bad yet l will continue the search for the clear tape. I know the tape as a friend used this type of tape on the lip of his Subaru that people used to close his latch instead oh the proper hand holds. Input has held up but has come loose at the pointy end not enough adhesive there .i guess.
The bumpers push the film down all the time so it has to be really stuck down and waterproof.
I found a shop around here onetime that sold all sorts of adhesive tapes for industry. Name the tape and he had it, maybe I should look for it again.

Another option is to cut pieces out of Rvinyl film, your choice of pattern, CF, etc. That stuff is pretty durable.

Thanks for that info, at great expense to the treasury I ordered a roll. Might work perfectly and solve the problem.

The product must be clear, .005 or so thick max. not get marked by the bumpers and not slide due to the slight downward force exerted in it by the bumper. This last requirement is the hardest to get. Tape adhesives are great when put in tension but fail easily from shear forces.

Any other ideas ?

I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for but a clear durable vinyl tape is referred to as helicopter tape in the marketplace. I posted about using this on the sharp inside edges on my door handles. Very easy to work with and tough. Might be what you need.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I have been looking for helicopter tape, this is not cheap. I thought that the first roll I found come with a helicopter on it, then I saw the roll was about 100 feet long.
It looks like good stuff., so I shall keep looking.

Free shipping to you, they want nearly $16 to ship to Canada.
I'll try to get it from China, they ship for free and I get to cut out the middleman who has his product made off shore putting North Americans on the street.o
I try to buy from China when I can practically the same product as in the stores down the road and much less money. They sent the jobs off shore and still charge the same as if it was made here. They put loads of people out of work so to hell with them.
All my fishing gear came from China this year, not bad quality so I'll be getting more when I need it. Why should I buy it from Bass Pro, their stuff comes from China and I save on gas. Some crappy stuff is made there. You just have to careful.

Rant over.

BTW, Bass Pro is now Cabellas
I knew Ray Scott, the founder of B.A.S.S. in Montgomery AL.
Bass Anglers Sportsman Society founded Bass Pro Shops.
One entire wall of Ray's office was a fish tank stocked with large mouth bass.
( I installed and maintained all the computer equipment there when I worked for NCR )

If you keep buying from China, you will exacerbate the unemployment problem in North America, which has led to a permanent impoverished underclass prone to violence and crime. You sir are the problem. Of course your actions have benefited the gun manufacturers.

Your reading comprehension leaves something to be desired.

I glued a piece of inner tube to the very spots in question. I have also thought it would be kind of fun to use a Crossfire emblem sticker that you can find on the Internet. I have some and they were made in Europe.
