Default HELP!! Stripped Lug Bolt?

I really need your help folks.

I finally put the str rims on my car (I should've known better, i break everything I touch).

I put them on and the car would not move. Figured all I need is some wheel spacers, no problem. Front rims were definitely rubbing. Got the front stock rims back on. Go to put factory wheels back on and the one of the lug bolts in the back just free spins....
Have not even checked the other side yet.

Here is the problem, car will NOT move with the new rims/tires on the back. Now I can't put the stock rims back on. So its stuck in my driveway.

Please Help Me!!! How do I get the lug bolt out?

What tools do I need to repair the threads. Already have new bolts.

First try some visegrips set REAL tight on the bolt, try pulling out hard and turning counterclockwise, maybe you'll get lucky and the threads will start.
Failing that, you will probably have to drill the bolt out.
To repair, I would only recommend a new ( or good used ) axle shaft, and this time measure the bolt lengths so they don't extend into the parking/emergency brake mechanism.

So I was able to get the bolt out. Had to pry on the rim and hit it with the impact.

Bolts were stock, rims were different. I will either order 15mm spacers or get shorter bolts now. I have 10mm spacers for the front.

The lug bolts did seem a bit rough after this mishap. Everything else looked fine, but it was late and I was frustrated. It seemed like the bolts just bolt onto the rotor. Would I really need to replace the whole axle shaft?

Thanks!

The bolts go THROUGH the rotor and screw into the axle shaft plate, the answer is yes.

Well that really sucks. Guess I'll be pulling the rotors off soon.

Thanks for the info! Could've been worse I guess.

All options are covered in this old post, I think I would go for adding an over size threaded plug welded into the old hole which has been opened up in size and re-threading the plug. All of this done on a milling machine which is available to me. Alternatively I would replace the hub after checking the threaded holes in it and fitting new bearings at the same time.

Never let a so called technician use a impact wrench on your studs or your nuts come to that.

MOST Important, If I am not mistaken, the lug bolts get torqued to @ 80 Ft/Lbs. Most US lug nuts are @ 100 Ft/Lbs. Easy to make the mistake of letting some wrench nerd over torque at the salary they get paid. Get your own torque wrench and mount/dismount them yourself OR make sure the people you hire are sure to use the CORRECT torque on those bolts.

Right on!
I had four tires put on the car at a tire shop, one side of the car was done by one guy and another did the other side.
When I got home I found one side was close to a hundred ft.lb and the other was close to 70 ft.lb.
The same shop put two tires on my wife's car which I forgot to check, a few days later my wife said the so and so wheel was noisy, sure enough the wheel was loose because every nut could be spun by hand, they had forgot to tighten that wheel, the other wheel was OK.

Where are the front wheels rubing ?
Are the rear lug bolts hitting the parking brake?

What size of wheels and offsets did you get?

I like my esr wheels

Talking Re: HELP!! Stripped Lug Bolt?

I have 4 sets of wheels and bolts are DIFFERENT. I have the wheels and studs color coded to get it straight . the wheels will tear up the parking assy if long bolts are used.

For the stud messing up the axle, I installed replacement threads in all 10 holes in the rear.
I used helicoils to restore the threads and did all so there was no question of what is what.

see these, but check the threads, Iam going from memory.

New 26pc Spark Plug M14 x 1.25 Tap Thread Repair Kit With Case | eBay

For impact no one seems to notice the control on the bottom of the wrench and if you use it is fine to do wheels but you need to do a 1 or a 2 setting, I use 4 for REMOVAL ONLY.
Starting wheels I use one of my custom bolt studs to hang the wheel, then install 4 bolts then pull-replace the bolt . All bolts hand started 2-3 turns FIRST then alternately torque the lugs.

I also use my POLISHED socket so the it does not dig into wheel, being shiney its obvious which onr to use. These items are in my gallery but it is so big I can not locate the photos now.

Getting redy for Carisle, tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Yippie or may be TAAAAA DAAAAA
