Replace lower oil pan - Difficult?
Okay I have a 2007 crossfire. It was storming in Houston at night and I ran across a curb medium (stupid me). Anyway. My oil is now leaking out immensely. I took off the lower body cover underneath the car and saw where I cracked the corner of the lower oil pan.
My question to all has anyone removed and replaced the lower oil pan even to replace the oil pan gasket. I want to know how difficult it is to remove the lower oil pan. I can see all of the bolts holding the pan on. I just need to know if it is more extensive than that.
Any help is welcomed

Not difficult. It is straight forward. No gasket on pan you use black RTV sealant and the torque is very light when installing; something like 14nm.
Thanks so much headwords for the shop manual excerpts
What scared me was I read an old thread where folks talked about needing to use a heat gun and a pry bar to get the lower tank loose after all of the screws are removed along with a lot of patience. But I believe that was for a 2004 Xfire. I hope that is not the case with a 2007 Xfire. I am hoping that the case readily becomes fetched with the removal of the bolts. Please let me know what you experienced as I am somewhat frightened with the prying of the pan
I've change a number of oil pan gaskets on other cars. If there is an RTV sealant it's likely going to need some persuasion. Hitting the side of the pan on all sides with a rubber mallet will help dislodge it. I suppose since the pan is trash you could use more force with a steel hammer. I would never try and pry between the mating surface.

To break something like the oil pan loose I usually place a piece of 2 X 4 against the pan and hit the wood with a heavy hammer. Start with light blows and get a little stronger as you go, and move from side to side. I also have a set of nylon wedges which I use to open the seam. You can get inexpensive tools at an auto parts store that are used to remove interior paneling and that may also help get the seam opened. You can cut the 2 x 4 into a wedge (hard wood would be better) and try using that to get the seam to open.
Okay everyone I am having heck getting this lower oil pan off. The pan is no good and so I have no interest in saving it. I already have a replacement. But for the life of me I cannot get this lower pan to budge. I know everyone say to bang the sides with a hammer. Should I be applying heat as well with a heat gun while also applying blows with the hammer?
