Default Pulse Module: 170 545 00 05

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know where to buy the pulse module # A170 545 00 05? We called both Mercedes and Chrysler dealers and they don’t carry new ones anymore.

Here is my problem:
Traced electrical problem to the coolant pump. The pump is not getting power. Traced the wires from the ignition to the control module and through the power system and to the ECU. There is a short to ground in the system on the control module circuit. It is either the module itself failing internally or damaged wiring in the wire harness.
I am looking to replace the module first as it is the most likely candidate.

I’d appreaciate any input on the actual problem as well!

Best,

Sergio

The part number is A170 545 0305 NOT 0005.
You can get one from RockAuto for $123
Chrysler / 2005 / Crossfire / Electrical-switch and relay / Computer Control Relay

I Googled this one. CLICK The item number is the 05 part of the number the previous number is the later edition of the part.
There are new ones about $140, and they were mentioned on this forum but I cannot find it.

Thanks guys. So I already replaced the A 1705450305 part about 1,000 miles ago/ 5 months ago and had one of the members here fix my bad relay. It appears that the new relay needed is the following:

I know you said new, but eBay has over 20 of them 'pre-owned'. I would chance it.

Check them here: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...00+05&_sacat=0

Your photos are not of the "Relay Module" (known as the Relay Control Module), what you have there is the "Pulse Module".
Going to dealers is a waste of time, stop doing that. (See my sigline, obscenities starting in 3, 2, 1..............)

You can send the Pulse Module to D.J. in Arizona, he can replace the bad relay for around $40 including shipping back to you.
I'd go that route, myself. I really would.

Two relays, one for the starter, one for the SRT coolant pump.
All modules have both relays, oddly enough - my SE has both.

And I'm sure he can handle the job - from memory, it's the same relay (I may be wrong but I remember thinking, "That's the same relay..."

As I recall the pulse module does not get used in the manual transmission, am I correct?
If the part number is the same then they are identical parts. My understanding of the Mercedes numbering system has taken a hit with this thread. They, whoever they are, say the system is confusing so put me down as confused.🤔

Who is DJ and how do we contact him? Does he have a website, an email address, or an address on this site? What work does he do? Would like to keep information like this in my file in case I, or others, need this sort of information. I have seen mention of a Gentleman on this site that repairs the solder joints on the modules. Is this the same person or someone different? If that's a different person, does anyone have his name and contact information.

Thanks,

Jim

I have heard that, that the manuals do not use it - but that is illogical. The Pulse module takes the "enable" from the ECM to engage the starter, then when it sees the "pulse" from the ECM (when the engine gets to 400 rpm) it disables the starter.

People THINK that, because the manual won't auto-crank, that it has no pulse module, but that is incorrect, if not for the pulse module, my stater would engage ANY time I turned the key and it does not - it acts the same as the auto, except that in the manual, you must hold the key to "Start". But again, at 400 RPM, my starter won't engage.

I'll snap a photo of it's guts if I need to!

What work does he do?
He's a heart transplant surgeon that dabbles in cold fusion and anti-gravity as hobbies while he's not knocking back Coronas and watching NASCAR..

So I just got my car back from RRT Racing in Sterling VA. Those guys have been helping me figure this out. They mentioned that you can now buy new pulse modules for this car with a new Mercedez part number: 170 540 0010. That said, I went ahead with a used Pulse Module and it did the trip. My IC pump no stops working above a certain temperature and the supercharger works 100% of the time now. Hope this new part number is helpful, although I did a Google search for it an came up empty.

Is that 170 545 00 10 or 170 545 00 05, as you suddenly change the number?

I called the shop to confirm and reconfirm the new info. The pulse relay module part number did change:
- The old part number was 170 545 00 05.
- The new part number is now 170 540 00 10.
You can use the old part number on eBay to get a used pulse module. If you'd rather get a new pulse module, use the 170 540 00 10 code when talking to MB. Hope this provides clarity.
